GREEN CULTURE at Alarm for Nature Festival in Macedonia!

In preparation for the Green Culture Conference 2014, we visited our regional neighbors in Macedonia at Alarm za Prirodata (Alarm for Nature), a three-day festival on Dojran Lake in southern Macedonia. The festival’s goal was to engage people on how to live in harmony with the natural environment on a daily basis.

In addition to the outstanding lineup of local bands, the days were filled with workshops and presentations on an array of issues: first aid emergency, battery recycling, GMO food facts, composting, comic strip drawing, raising ecological awareness, climate change, and permaculture.

Our presentation about Green Culture in Southeast Europe stimulated discussion about challenges and progress in incorporating environmental sustainability into the Creative Industries in this region. Participants inspired us with their ideas and visions on how to create a more sustainable future.

The enthusiasm and interest in the Green Culture Conference confirmed the growing need for strong regional collaboration. Although we live with borders that separate us by nationality, religion and language, nature has no borders, and every act counts.

Many thanks to the organizers for putting on such a stimulating, valuable and fun festival!
